CAMT Names Tom Bugnitz CEO, Refocuses on MEP Mission

DENVER-- The Colorado Association for Manufacturing and Technology (CAMT) has named Tom Bugnitz Chief Executive Officer. Bugnitz will lead CAMT in providing strategic services and programs designed to strengthen Colorado’s manufacturing sector with an emphasis on spurring innovation growth. Tom has hands-on experience in the manufacturing sector, serving most recently as a senior executive for Coolerado, a Denver-based manufacturer of leading-edge green air conditioning systems. During his tenure with Coolerado, the organization grew from a five person company to employing over 60 workers.  He is also the co-author of the widely-adopted book on business strategy and capital planning for technology, “From Business Strategy to IT Action.”

“Tom brings over 25 years of broad experience in strategic planning, operations and financial oversight to CAMT,” said CAMT Board Chair Dr. Florine Raitano. “We look forward to his leadership as CAMT re-focuses on its core programs under the NIST MEP program.”

CAMT has been the state affiliate of the national Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) since 1994, and is committed to the core MEP programs focused on technology acceleration, continuous improvement, supplier development, sustainable practices and workforce development for the manufacturing sector. As a public-private partnership, CAMT convenes government, not-for-profit and industry resources to offer comprehensive expertise to Colorado manufacturers, ensuring their place among top competitors in the global marketplace.

Collaboration with existing and new partners is essential in providing a continuum of critical support services when needed to ensure market success for area manufacturing companies and economic development for the region. CAMT is reaching out to like-minded organizations to explore partnership opportunities that can further CAMT’s efforts to support manufacturing companies and encourage innovation.

In addition to the hiring of Bugnitz, the CAMT Board of Directors will be expanding its size and scope to widen industry and geographic representation.
